Mattresses for every bunk bed

A good night’s sleep is essential for your little ones. To help you find the perfect bunk bed mattress for them, we stock a variety of different mattress types including pocket sprung mattresses to support them as they sleep as well as memory foam and reflex foam mattresses to give them that sink-in feeling as they drift off. Of course, our mattresses are available in a selection of sizes so whether you’re shopping for a standard single bunk bed or a triple sleeper with a small double underneath, you can find exactly what you need.

Is there a special type of mattress for bunk beds?

You don’t need to buy a special type of mattress if your child has a bunk bed. The mattresses you would use on a regular child’s bed can be used on a bunk bed, providing it’s the right fit for the bed and not so thick that it would make using the top bunk of the bed unsafe. You can find out more about bunk bed safety, including choosing a mattress, in our guide.

Although it’s recommended to replace adult mattresses every eight years, children’s mattresses need to be replaced every three years for 3-10 year olds and every five years for 10-16 year olds. If your existing mattress is older than this, we recommend investing in a new bunk bed mattress.

What sizes are bunk bed mattresses available in?

Are you not sure what size mattress you need for your new bunk bed? Well, you’re in the right place! Our bunk bed mattresses are available in a range of sizes:

  • Small single mattresses: ideal for small children who are transitioning from a toddler bed into an adult bed.
  • Single mattresses: the standard size for most bunk beds, a single mattress is excellent for solo sleepers, children and guests.
  • European single mattresses: a good choice for growing children, our European single bunk beds offer more leg space to stretch out.
  • Small double mattresses: slightly smaller than a double mattress, our small double mattresses are perfect if you're a little short on space.
  • Double mattresses: the largest bunk bed mattress size. It offers plenty of space and easily accommodates up to 2 people.

What type of foam filling is available with bunk bed mattresses?

We have two types of foam available with our bunk bed mattresses. The types of foam we have in our range include:

  • Reflex Foam: a high-density foam that provides support and firmness. Reflex foam is made up of tiny holes that mould to your body shape.
  • Memory Foam: a low-resistance foam that will react to pressure by changing shape. This foam evenly distributes your body weight, offering comfort and support.

What type of spring structures are available with bunk bed mattresses?

A selection of our bunk bed mattresses comes with two types of spring available. These include:

  • Open coil springs: these mattresses have many open coiled springs that sit inside the mattress, running side to side. Our range of open coil spring mattresses are available in varying levels of firmness.
  • Pocket springs: these mattresses feature individual pocket springs, enclosed within their own pocket. Each spring works independently and reacts to applied pressure, offering support.
