A hybrid mattress, also known as a combination mattress, combines the stability of a sprung mattress with the comfort of memory foam or other softer materials. Most hybrid mattresses consist of a spring base with a soft upper layer. This combination means you get the benefits of a soft mattress with the support of a firm mattress. The spring core is breathable and helps relieve pressure, while the foam upper layer conforms to the body for cloud-like comfort.

A hybrid mattress is the best choice for combination sleepers who sleep in various positions throughout the night. They’re an excellent option for ongoing comfort if you move a lot and change position throughout the night. Hybrid mattresses are also great for couples of mixed weights or those who prefer different levels of support. Memory foam mattresses are made entirely of memory foam, which contours to the sleeper’s shape, while hybrid mattresses have springs, offering a little more bounce. A popular type of mattress, hybrid mattresses offer many benefits to sleepers, including:

Unfortunately, a hybrid mattress is not designed to be flipped. The comfort layer is only on one side of the mattress; if you flip a hybrid mattress, you will sleep on the base, which would be very uncomfortable.
